Burnaby's first coach passes on

Former Burnaby Lake rugby coach and city businessman Pat Anderson passed away suddenly on Dec. 19 at the age of 66. Anderson was the first head coach of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.

Former Burnaby Lake rugby coach and city businessman Pat Anderson passed away suddenly on Dec. 19 at the age of 66.

Anderson was the first head coach of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. He also coached the Fraser Valley Venom Super League team to a pair of national championships.

Anderson also fashioned a successful career in insurance that spanned 42 years. His flagship business Pat Anderson Agencies Ltd. was located in Burnaby.

Anderson is survived by his wife Sharon, his son Richard, daugher Hilleri (J.P) and his grandchildren, Harley and Bronwyn.

Anderson was born in England in 1945. He moved to British Columbia in 1985.

A celebration of Anderson's life will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown on Jan. 5, at 2 p.m.
