Canada Jrs. beat U.S. in field hockey test

The New Westminster pair were among 15 Lower Mainland field hockey players named to the Canadian men's junior national team for a four-match test series versus the United States.

Matthew scored a pair of goals, including the first-half game-winner on a field goal. Brenden tallied Canada's fourth goal of the game.

The Canadians opened the test series with a 3-0 victory. Burnaby Field Hockey Club's Gabriel Ho-Garcia scored a goal in the win.

Ali Curriumbhoy and C.J. Roydhouse of Burnaby were also named to Canada's 18-man squad for the series.

Canada tied the U.S. 33 on Tuesday and 5-0 on Wednesday to round out the four-game test series.

The test is part of Canada's junior team preparation for the upcoming junior World Cup qualifier in September.
