B.C. Rugby reported that former Burnaby Lake Rugby Club head coach Pat Anderson died of a heart attack on Wednesday.
Anderson was a lifelong supporter of rugby, volunteering to the building of club teams, sub and provincial unions as a coach and administrator.
Anderson was a past president of the B.C. Rugby Union from 1995 to '96 and was actively involved in the development of a number of Lower Mainland clubs, including the Kats RFC, Brit Lions, Bayside and Burnaby Lake rugby clubs.
He was also the coach of the Fraser Valley Venom Super League team that won back-to-back Canadian national championships in the 1990s.
Anderson was the first head coach for Burnaby Lake following the merger of the Burnaby Buffaloes and the Vancouver Trojan clubs in 1994.
Details of a memorial service for Anderson were not available.
