Hoop Clan beats up on Kwantlen

soccer All-Americans named

Simon Fraser University won big over Kwantlen Polytechnic University in men's collegiate basketball.

The varsity Clan got back to .500, breezing to an 87-39 victory over the Richmond college at home on Saturday.

Javari Williams led the Clan with 19 points and seven rebounds, while three other SFU players reached double figures in the one-sided win.

Justin Brown added 17 points, Jordan Sergent chipped in with a dozen points and Matt Ravio had 11 for the Clan. Chris Evans also had a solid outing for SFU.

The Clan raced to an early 21-5 start and continued to build on the lead, carrying a 48-17 advantage into half time.

SFU's next home game is on New Year's Eve against the Western Washington University Vikings at 3 p.m.

CLAN NAME FOUR

Simon Fraser University placed four members of the varsity soccer team on NCAA Division II men's All-American teams.

Carlo Basso and Max Baessato were both named to the first team, while Josh Bennett earned a place on the second team and Matt Besuschko was a thirdteam pick.

"It feels great to cap off a successful season with this honour," said Basso in an SFU press release. "To have six players named to the all-region team and now four named All-Americans shows what a strong team we had this seaons and is a testament to the depth we have at SFU."

Basso led the Great Northwest conference in goals and was named co-player of the year, as well as all-region and All-American.
