The St. Thomas More Knights improved to 3-3-0 on the year with a 44-0 victory over Mount Boucherie. They wrap up the AAA senior football season on Friday, 5 p.m. when they host Mission at Burnaby Lakes.

For the third straight week, the St. Thomas More Knights piled up the points and walked off with the win. And for the first time in a month, veteran rusher Tyler Eckert was in on the fun.
The Grade 11 rusher and defensive back was healthy enough to play, scoring twice in the team’s 44-0 win over Mount Boucherie last Friday at Burnaby Lakes.
In a similar storyline as the previous two games, STM overpowered its rival and built up a sturdy 21-0 lead at the half, and never looked back.
“Tonight was a very complete game for us is all three phases,” said STM coach Bernie Kully. “We started very strong right out of the gate and are showing that we are growing and maturing as a team in terms of both our practice habits and our game performance.”
Their record sits at 3-3, putting them in a two-way tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference with one game remaining.
Eckert rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries, and added three tackles and two QB sacks on defence. Quarterback Kolby Buljevic completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 218 yards and two touchdowns, and scampered into the end zone twice.
On the receiving end of Buljevic’s TD passes were Devon Hayek and Josh Wilson, who combined for 125 yards in receptions.
Counting another rushing TD was Jonah Fridfinnson.
On defence, Mateo Morreira racked up 10 tackles, a QB sack and a safety.
In their last three games, STM out-pointed its competition 127 to six after being outscored 77-47 in its first three games.
They aim to keep that string going this Friday, when the Knights wrap up the regular season against Mission, 5 p.m. at Burnaby Lakes.
“Our hope is that we can continue to use this new momentum to finish off the regular season and play our best football of the year come playoff time –which is always the way you want to enter into post-season play,” said Kully.
