Dear Editor:

You have to really wonder about the Christy Clark-led B.C. Liberals. After spending $15 million of taxpayers money extolling the virtues of the so called B.C. Jobs Plan, we now find out that jobs in B.C. mines are being filled by temporary foreign workers from China, and that the building of a new SeaBus has been awarded by TransLink to a foreign shipyard in Holland.

I was openly critical when Gordon Campbell awarded ferry contracts to a German shipyard, ignoring the spinoffs - economic and otherwise - that a project of that magnitude would bring to B.C. workers. And how long ago was it that Christy Clark was standing at Washington Marine Group celebrating the awarding of contracts to build Canadian Navy ships with shipyard workers?

Then she was celebrating with them, now she's depriving them of local work, not to mention the spinoffs associated with the building of a ship like a new SeaBus, the opportunity for job training in a relatively high-paying industry, apprenticeship work, spinoff work for related companies, etc.

May the new year bring a new provincial government. The sooner, the better for all of us.
