This season, Tacofino’s 11th location, conveniently located in Metrotown, has unveiled an exciting array of dishes that will just tempt you to visit the mall even if your gift list is already complete.
“We’re stoked to be adding some new items to our Metrotown menu,” shares Managing Partner Gino Di Domenico. “And after hearing endless requests for more of our famous crispy chicken, we’ve finally made it happen.”
Leading the charge of new menu items are the much-anticipated Crispy Chicken Bites, a dish that can serve as a hearty side or shareable plate. The delectable dish is cooked Karaage-style, a Japanese frying method that guarantees an extra-crispy exterior while keeping the meat juicy and tender. The dish is served with Tacofino’s signature Black Chili Oil and Black Chili Mayo—flavour-packed condiments that elevate the bites into a meal in their own right.
True to Tacofino’s spirit, the new menu lineup isn’t stopping there. The restaurant, renowned for blending traditional Mexican culinary elements with bold global flavours, has a few other tricks up its sleeve this season.
“We’re hyped to bring our Miso Carnitas to Metrotown,” says Di Domenico. “It’s a bold combination of umami-packed Japanese miso paired with our signature carnitas.” The Soft and Crunchy Carnitas Taco is a true Tacofino masterpiece, bringing together a soft and hard shell, glued with gooey cheese magic – the perfect crunch-meets-melty combo.
Tacofino fans on the mainland can also rejoice at the addition of Vancouver Island favourites to the Metrotown menu, including Grilled Steak Tacos and Grilled Steak Burritos. These dishes, wildly popular at other Tacofino locations, feature smoky grilled steak paired with the restaurant’s signature blend of vibrant flavours and fresh ingredients. “These new menu items slide perfectly into the Tacofino lineup, staying true to what we’re all about—bold flavours, global influences and fresh, top-notch ingredients,” Di Domenico explains. “Each one strikes that balance of tradition and creativity while being fun, approachable and most importantly, delicious.”
Not to worry—Tacofino’s classics aren’t going anywhere. Regulars can still find fan favourites like the Lemongrass Chicken Tacos, with pickled carrot and daikon, jalapeños, cilantro and tamarind mayo; the Karaage-Style Vegan “Chicken” Burrito, featuring spiced rice, black chilli oil, guacamole and vegan black chilli mayo; and, of course, the iconic Crispy Fish Burrito, a satisfying blend of black beans, spiced rice, cabbage, chipotle mayo and housemade salsa fresca.
