The Second Annual Deer Lake 5K Fun Run and Walk is set for May 25.
The run will start at 8: 30 a.m. and finish at 10: 30 a.m., followed by a barbecue at the parking lot at Deer Lake Park on Sperling Avenue.
Organizers are expecting 300 participants and about 150 spectators.
Council approved road closures on the day of the run from 8 to 9 a.m. at the 6600 block of Deer Lake Drive, Sperling Avenue between Deer Lake Drive and Deer Lake Avenue, and Deer Lake Avenue between Sperling Avenue and Century Park Drive. Between 8: 30 and 10 a.m. the 6100 block of Price Street will be closed, too.
Local residents will be notified about the road closures by the organizers two weeks in advance of the event.
