Sundays aren't the only day for fun in the square. Parents can drop by with their children from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for scavenger hunts, crafts, kite races and more. Starting in August, the city will screen free outdoor films, from 8:30 to 10 p.m., so bring a blanket and enjoy the show. Titles include Hotel Transylvania (Aug. 8), Love is Sin (Aug. 15), Lorax (Aug. 22) and ET (Aug. 29).

Civic Square is just outside the Bob Prittie Metrotown library branch, at 6100 Willingdon Ave.
