Looking to ring in the New Year in style? Or perhaps you’re looking for something more low-key that the entire family can enjoy?
Look no further, we’ve put together a wee list of events and things to do on New Year’s Eve in Burnaby.
Oh, and don’t forget that transit is free from at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 5 a.m. on Jan. 1. Buses operate on normal weekday schedules and SkyTrain service on all lines is extended one hour.

New Year’s Eve 2016 Glitz & Glamour Gala
This annual event hosted by the folks at the Hilton Vancouver-Metrotown is a definite winner. Open to adults 19 years and older only, this event is for an older crowd and features a buffet dinner served in the hotel’s Crystal Ballroom.
After dinner, it’s time for dancing, and the Hilton has something for everyone – they’ll be playing top 40, Caribbean, old school, funk, Latin, and tunes from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. At midnight, enjoy a champagne toast. Tickets are $99 for the dinner and dance, and $60 for the dance only.
Dress code is formal, and doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. There’s still some tickets left, and you can get them at www.ticketmaster.ca.
NYE 2016 with Daniel Wesley and guests
Alternative rock more your style? The Fox radio station is presenting Daniel Wesley and guests at the Grand Villa Casino New Year’s Eve.
The year-end concert features headliner Daniel Wesley with Pigeon Park and DJ Jeremy Baker in the Grand Villa ballroom. Doors open at 9 p.m.
Grand Villa is also offering special room rates for Daniel Wesley ticket holders that includes a 2 p.m. late checkout.

Hop & Vine New Year’s Eve 2016
Feel like something a little more casual? Check out the Hop & Vine Tap House at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course for the New Year’s Eve longtable dinner. The dinner costs $50 and includes a five-course meal paired with your choice of five gold medal wines or beers. Food not your thing? Cover is only $10 and the DJ is expected to play until 3 a.m. At midnight, everyone gets to enjoy a champagne toast and balloon. For tickets, call 604-421-1092.

Heritage Christmas at Burnaby Village Museum
Got some wee ones you’re looking to please come New Year’s Eve? The Burnaby Village Museum has just what you need for a younger crowd. Its annual Heritage Christmas is open Thursday, Dec. 31 from 1 to 9 p.m. and is free for all visitors.
Check out the thousands of lights on display or the Christmas sing-along or gather your loved ones and take part in the 12 Days of Christmas scavenger hunt. There are also presentations of Stories on Wheels, Elwoodettes Marionettes’ Die Fledermaus, The Sequel (The Old Bat), The Gingerbread Man and other seasonal songs and stories happening every hour at different venues around the village.
The carousel will also be operating on New Year’s Eve, and rides are only $2.55 each.
