July 1 this year will be filled with Canada Day festivities in Burnaby.
With three events to choose from (or attend them all!), the city will host a wide variety of performances, activities and more for those wanting to get out and celebrate.
Burnaby Village Museum
At Burnaby Village Museum (6501 Deer Lake Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., there will many histories on display, along with games and entertainment, throughout the 10-acre open-air site.
Two feature exhibitions will be open: Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby and Overcaste.
Kids can get their face painted and play different games or ride the vintage carousel for $2.52 plus tax.
Performances will run throughout the event, ranging from Coastal Wolf Pack to Chinese fan and ribbon dancing by Jessica Yue to Peruvian ensemble Rene Hugo y sus Amigos, the Lucky Trappers live music and more.

Edmonds Canada Day
Check out Edmonds Plaza and Park (7433 Edmonds St.) from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tons of family-friendly activities and performances including Rainshadow, Tumble City Athletics Inc. and Amid Hossain Chowdhury and Mr. Ravi.
Don't forget to try the cake either!
StreetFest on Central Canada Day in Burnaby: Fireworks!
In the evening, head to Civic Square along Central Boulevard in Metrotown for StreetFest on Central from 6:15 to 10:30 p.m. in Metrotown for one of the largest street parties thrown in Burnaby.
It’ll be a giant party, featuring a family zone with kids' entertainment at Civic Square (replete with roving stilt-wakers, jugglers, mimes and clowns), all-ages activities along Central Boulevard, and a huge array of food trucks, music and dance in Central Park.
And don't miss the concert with headliner Dear Rouge (duo Drew and Danielle McTaggart) along with other musical acts on the main stage including Tanika Charles, Tiger Really and Hayley Wallis.
The fireworks show will start at 10:15 p.m.
Roads will be closed along Patterson Avenue, Central Boulevard and Beresford Street between Patterson and Willingdon avenues.
Guests are encouraged to use public transportation; the city will have a bike valet available between the Patterson and Mayberry tennis courts.
