The City of Burnaby is seeking input from residents for its study on travel safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers travelling in the Capitol Hill/Burnaby Heights neighbourhoods.
In a news release, the city says the new study will build on earlier studies and previous traffic-calming measures and will be informed by updated resident input and technical analysis.
The area being highlighted will include Hastings Street between Fell and Willingdon Avenue.
In previous studies, the city studied specific sections or streets in the neighbouhoods and implemented traffic-calming measures. Officials say they are now taking a holistic approach and thinking more broadly about how the city can improve safety and accessibility throughout the area.
Those that live in the area are asked to take part in an online survey. The deadline is May 1, 2022.
The city also says the study will aim to improve accessibility and encourage healthier and more sustainable modes of transportation such as walking, rolling and cycling.
