Head to the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre in Burnaby this weekend to hunt for Japanese treasures at the Tanabata flea market.
The Tanabata Star Festival celebrates a legend in which the Milky Way separates two lovers, represented by the stars Vega and Altair, who are allowed to meet only once a year, according to the museum's website.
The centre has a fabulous schedule of festivities prepared, including a Tanabata display by Kwantlen Polytechnic University students, a Tanabata-themed kids' corner with family-friendly activities and sold-out Temari workshops.
While you're there, check out the Nikkei Centre's farmers market, with local produce, lunch options and one-of-a-kind gifts crafted by local artisans.
