Man convicted of first-degree murder in 2009 Burnaby killing

Almost three years after the murder of Ping Li, a man was convicted on Feb. 23 of first-degree murder in Li's 2009 death in an Burnaby apartment where she worked as a prostitute.

Almost three years after the murder of Ping Li, a man was convicted on Feb. 23 of first-degree murder in Li's 2009 death in an Burnaby apartment where she worked as a prostitute.

The man was 17 and a young offender at the time of Li's death on March 3, 2009 and this prevents his name from being released. A sentencing date for the man is set for Tuesday, Feb. 28.

"IHIT continue to successfully bring killers to justice for the horrific and senseless act of taking away a life," RCMP media spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound said in a press release. "Each investigator feels a personal need to see that these offenders are held responsible on behalf of the victim's and their families and friends."
