Burnaby resident Wai Lim Wong plans to take a trip to Asia after a $500,000 lotto win.

A Burnaby man says he was "shocked" and "speechless" after learning he had won half-a-million dollars.

Wai Lim Wong matched all four Extra numbers from the Dec. 14, 2024, Lotto 6/49 Draw, which meant he had won a $500,000 prize.

“I was at home and checked my ticket after breakfast," Wong said in a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) news release today, Dec. 23.

"I was shocked and left speechless."

He said he shared the news with his sister first, who questioned if he actually won.

With the winnings, Wong plans to take a trip to Asia this summer.

The winning ticket was bought at the Petro Canada on Austin Avenue and Blue Mountain Street in Coquitlam.
