On Oct. 31, BCIT is hosting a Halloween pancake breakfast between 6:45 and 10 a.m. to support United Way BC.

The theme is “salute to essential workers,” to “honour the essential workers who work tirelessly to keep us safe, fed and moving forward throughout the pandemic and beyond.”

Costumes are encouraged.

Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley will attend from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., and the dean of BCIT’s school of construction and the environment, Wayne Hand, and BCIT interim president Paul McCullough will also be present.

BCIT has raised more than $7,300 so far.

The event is “near zero waste,” so guests are encouraged to bring their own cups, plates and cutlery; compostable versions will be on hand.

When: Monday, Oct. 31 (6:45 to 10 a.m.)
Where: BCIT Burnaby Campus, Building NE 4 Carpentry (3700 Willingdon Ave.)
