The Simon Fraser University women's basketball team released their 2013-14 schedule on Thursday.

Coming off their first full season in the NCAA, which saw them reach the Sweet 16 at the national tournament, the 2013/14 season will be the Clan's fourth season in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and second since gaining full NCAA membership.

After starting the season with a home exhibition game against the University of Victoria Vikes on Oct. 25, the Clan will head to Portland for a pair of exhibition games against Division I Portland State on Nov. 1 followed by a tilt with Lewis and Clark on Nov. 3.

Five days later, the Clan will be in Pomona, California to start the non-conference portion of the schedule with two games against Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 8 and 9.

"We're excited to get started and it will be great to start in one of my favourite cities in Portland," said SFU head coach Bruce Langford. "Last year, we took a big step as a program and we're hoping we can pick up where we left off. We lost some key players, but we've also added some new players that we think will fit in to our system well. That, combined with the development of our returning players, bodes well for an exciting season. Last year, we learned how competitive we need to be and we have every intention of being even harder to play against this year. We led the league in defence last, but we know we still have work to do to be where we want to be defensively."

The home portion of SFU's schedule will feature four non-conference games this season as the Clan host San Francisco State on Nov. 22 and 23 and San Francisco's Academy of Art on Nov. 26 and 27.

A week later, the conference season will get underway as the Clan hosts their cross-border rivals the Western Washington Vikings, on Dec. 1.

After another non-conference, neutral site game against West Texas A&M on Dec. 19 in Seattle,  the SFU women will get a break until after Christmas when they play Canadian rival, Trinity Western University in Langley.

The Great Northwest schedule gets into full swing on Jan. 2, when the Clan faces the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets on the road.

SFU's conference schedule ends the same way it began, with a contest versus Western Washington, this time in Bellingham as the Clan faces the Vikings on March 1.

The conference playoff tournament will take place the following week, from March 6 to 8.
