Capping a tremendous season to an already amazing career, Burnaby’s Seina Kashima was selected as Trinity Western University’s Female Athlete of the Year earlier this month as part of the Langley university’s annual athletic awards ceremony.
Kashima, who was named USports and Canada West’s Athlete of the Year after leading the Spartans to a Canada West championship title and a national silver medal in 2018, completed her fifth and final season with seven goals and 13 assists over 14 games, including three game-winning goals. She set a Canada West single-season assist record in her last year, and finished tied for the USports points total scoring lead.
A Burnaby South alumna, Kashima posted an impressive 18 goals and 40 assists over 65 career games at Trinity, positioning herself as the all-time assists leader in Canada West history, and tied for third in Canada West in points.
It was the second consecutive bronze for TWU, with Kashima also helping the Spartans capture silver in 2015.
