Burnaby students had a chance to cast their ballots ahead of B.C.'s provincial election, with the results coming in close to the actual final count.
Elections BC's results from Oct. 19 showed the BC NDP swept all five Burnaby ridings with Anne Kang elected in Burnaby Centre, Reah Arora in Burnaby East, Raj Chouhan in Burnaby-New Westminster, Janet Routledge in Burnaby North and Paul Choi in Burnaby South-Metrotown.
The Student Vote results showed students sent Kang, Arora, Chouhan and Choi to the Victoria legislature to represent their respective ridings.
The one surprise came in Burnaby North, with Conservative Party of BC candidate Michael Wu upsetting Routledge.
Of the 1,034 schools that participated, the BC NDP won 44 seats, giving Premier David Eby and the party a minority government.
The Conservative Party of BC and John Rustad won 40 seats while Sonia Furstenau and the BC Green Party won nine seats.
